Yesterday we celebrated a new edition of the Excellence in student internships competitions promoted by REDFUE, The Engineering Institute of Spain and INECO, which seek to recognise excellence in the process of carrying out training internships in the engineering sector.
The winner of the fourth edition of the Awards for Excellence in Engineering Student Internships Competition was José Vicente González, Master’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, for his internship at AIRBUS D&S: Vision-Based Navigation (VBN). With this project, a landing system has been developed to make it easier for pilots to land on unprepared runways. A prototype has also been created with a USB camera that works in real time, which allows the system to be explained in a didactic way.
On the other hand, María Cifuentes was the winner of Ineco’s internal competition for her participation in the project on the calibration of radio aids using drones.
In his speech, Fernando Martínez, president of REDFUE, stressed the importance of the experiential value of internships and the importance of regulating them with a round of dialogue that includes universities, the Ministry of Universities and the Ministry of Education.
The event was concluded by Ángel Contreras, president of Adif, who reflected on engineering, excellence and success, praising engineers who go beyond the best, providing solutions to problems that transform and serve society, and which last if they work as a team.
Congratulations to José Vicente and María and to all the finalists for the magnificent level of the projects, you have shown great talent!
